LASIK itself stands for Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis, is a corrective surgery in which a thin layer of the cornea is opened to allow laser light to change the shape of the cornea to eliminate refractive abnormalities (myopia and astigmatism). The LASIK method evolved from the 1960s to the present.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”6377″ img_size=”large” style=”vc_box_shadow_border”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column el_class=”mobile-image”][vc_single_image image=”6381″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow_border” el_class=”hideon-Desktop”][vc_custom_heading text=”7 Dimension Z-LASIK (7D Z-Lasik): Comparison of the LASIK Method” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:36px|text_align:left|color:%230e7759″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_separator align=”align_left”][vc_column_text]7D Z-LASIK merupakan salah satu metode LASIK yang menggunakan sistem Latency-Free Tracking sehingga mampu melacak 7 dimensi pergeseran bola mata saat proses operasi dilakukan.
Kelebihan Z-LASIK
- Prosedur yang tidak terlalu invasif
- Dapat menghilangkan ketergantungan pada kacamata atau softlens
- Keseluruhan proses hanya membutuhkan waktu selama beberapa menit
By using only one machine: VisuMax will make operating times faster and patients feel more comfortable.
ReLEx SMILE Procedure
1. Visumax Femtosecond Laser makes thin corneal tissue shaped like a lens (lenticule) at the base of the inner layer of the cornea and then formed a 2- 4mm corneal incision.
2. Furthermore, the lenticule is removed through the corneal incision, so that the structure of the cornea is maintained and stable due to the absence of flap making. The small incision in the cornea will heal naturally. Intake of the lenticule changes the way light enters the eye, so that the eye can see clearly without the aid of glasses or contact lenses.
Benefits of ReLEx SMILE
- There are no complications related to flaps; such as a flap shifted or wrinkled due to the absence of flap making in this operation process.
- Do not use a scalpel at all and only use Visumax Femtosecond Laser so that the healing process and phase take place faster.
- The procedure is minimally invasive because this method only has a 4mm incision.
- It only takes a few minutes in the operation process.
- Due to the absence of openings (flaps), the patient feels more comfortable and does not experience pain.
- Complaints of dry eyes after surgery are greatly reduced because there is no action on the structure of the upper cornea.
- ReLEx® SMILE reduce optical abrasion that occurs because there is no flap.
- Can eliminate dependence on glasses or contact lenses.
Compared to ReLEx SMILE , this method is a technology The latest LASIK which is only 4mm incision in process (smaller than other LASIK methods) using a laser (not using a scalpel), and using only one tool, the sophisticated Visumax Femtosecond Laser, thus making the operation process a faster. In addition, in the absence of flap opening, the patient will feel more comfortable and maintain the corneal structure of the eye.

- Do regular eye checks
- Read somewhere that is well-lit
- Maintain close viewing activities for a long time without rest
Minimize myopia
These visual difficulties can be treated with some visual aid or by performing refractive surgery.
- Glasses: The way that can be easily done is to use glasses that suit the minus conditions in the eye. You can choose eyeglass frames to your liking. However, the use of glasses when doing sports activities and other high-intensity activities will greatly interfere with its users.
- Softlens: Softlens can be used as an alternative to dealing with minus eyes. The soft form and attached to the eye will really help you do activities with high intensity; sports, diving, driving and others. However, you should give eye drops every few hours to keep the eyes from drying out and have to take them off before going to sleep. Cleaning must also be done with clean hands and using special fluids. So it requires more extra care.
- Refractive Surgery: Refractive surgery can be performed as an option for treating nearsighted eyes. Along with the development of technology, the condition of the eye minus or myopia can be overcome with the help of laser beams. There are several Lasik methods that have been run-up to the most recent methods, namely ReLEx SMILE (Refractive Lenticule Extraction, Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) which does not require the creation of a flap on the cornea that was normally done in the previous LASIK procedure.
The process that takes no more than 10 minutes will make your vision clear again and improve in a relatively short time. Thus, many people who prefer to undergo refractive surgery using glasses or contact lenses.
How to treat myopia?
It is strongly recommended to check routine eye conditions at least once a year to an ophthalmologist. This is done to monitor if there is a change in the minus size suffered.
Another thing that also needs to be considered for those of you who have been doing Lasik surgery is to rest your eyes regularly after a long period of close activity.

Dry Eyes After LASIK? Is This Normal?
Things that trigger dry eyes after LASIK surgery
The things that can trigger dry eyes after LASIK if you have diabetes, have nearsightedness or have a vision that requires a high level of correction. In most patients who have had LASIK surgery, symptoms of dry eye are most visible in the early months after surgery. Most said that conditions gradually get better in a period of six to twelve months.
Screening of eye conditions for LASIK patients
The quality and quantity of tears produced are factors that affect the dryness of the eyes and can affect the healing process after surgery. Therefore, before doing LASIK , the patient will undergo a series of screenings to determine the quality and quantity of tears. The checks carried out are:
– Schirmer Test: thin pieces of paper placed under the lower eyelid to measure tear production.
– Tear Breakup Time: placing a small amount of dye on the surface of the eye to monitor how tears are distributed and when they “break up” on the surface of the eye.
What causes it?
The eyes will feel dry after LASIK surgery due to the cutting of the corneal nerve which functions as a stimulus for tear production. This is very reasonable and temporary for all patients who have performed LASIK surgery. To overcome this, eye drops are given to lubricate the eyes.

Preparations Before Cataract Eye Surgery
There are a few things that are recommended to be prepared before you decide to do cataract eye surgery, such as:
1.Mental Readiness.
The eye is one of the most exposed organs of the body, and accordingly, we are wont to think that its vulnerability is enhanced. You must assure yourself that this is a completely safe and sound medical procedure, that will enhance your quality of life.
2.Cataract Maturity
If the cataract is mature, a doctor will tell you so that you may prepare for surgery, without any further loss of vision.
3.Shampooing
This may sound menial, but washing your hair is a real concern, as it is counterindicated for one week after the surgery, so that no dirty water may seep into and infect the scars. You are thus directed to wash your hair prior to surgery.
4.Routine Control Sessions
To ensure that the surgery is a complete success, you must attend regular control sessions with your doctor.
You will also be subject to the following preparatory steps:
- A few weeks before the procedure, the doctor will screen you to measure your eye and ascertain its shape. This will enable them to determine the type of lens and appropriate lens for your eyes.
- The doctor may ask you to stop some medications that risk increasing bleeding during and after the surgical procedure. If you are taking medications for prostate problems, tell your doctor because some of these drugs can interfere with the process of cataract surgery.
- The doctor will prescribe you antibiotic eye drops, to be used starting two days before the procedure, reducing the chances of infection.
- Rest amply prior to the procedure so you will be in fit condition.
- Dress comfortably and wear sunglasses when traveling to Ciputra SMG Eye Clinic. The use of perfume, aftershave cream, and other such substances are verboten. You are also advised to avoid makeup and false eyelashes.
- Cataract surgery is of a same-day nature, but you are directed not to operate a motor vehicle after the procedure. Please ask someone to accompany you to and from the Clinic. If necessary, the doctor will advise you to avoid activities such as heavy lifting for a week after the surgery. It may increase intracranial pressure on the eyes.
In conclusion, these are some of the psychological and physical preparations which may help you to be more prepared for cataract surgery.
