Comparison of LASIK Method: Z-LASIK Vs ReLEx® SMILE

LASIK Method Comparison
[vc_row content_placement=”middle” el_class=”flex_column_table”][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Comparison of LASIK Method:

LASIK itself stands for Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis, is a corrective surgery in which a thin layer of the cornea is opened to allow laser light to change the shape of the cornea to eliminate refractive abnormalities (myopia and astigmatism). The LASIK method evolved from the 1960s to the present.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”6377″ img_size=”large” style=”vc_box_shadow_border”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column el_class=”mobile-image”][vc_single_image image=”6381″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow_border” el_class=”hideon-Desktop”][vc_custom_heading text=”7 Dimension Z-LASIK (7D Z-Lasik): Comparison of the LASIK Method” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:36px|text_align:left|color:%230e7759″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_separator align=”align_left”][vc_column_text]7D Z-LASIK merupakan salah satu metode LASIK yang menggunakan sistem Latency-Free Tracking sehingga mampu melacak 7 dimensi pergeseran bola mata saat proses operasi dilakukan.

Kelebihan Z-LASIK

  • Prosedur yang tidak terlalu invasif
  • Dapat menghilangkan ketergantungan pada kacamata atau softlens
  • Keseluruhan proses hanya membutuhkan waktu selama beberapa menit

Unlike other LASIK methods, using the ReLEx SMILE technique, the eye correction process from start to finish uses the same laser that is the VisuMax Femtosecond Laser. SMILE itself stands for Small Incision Lenticule Extraction which is the latest development in Laser Surgery which was pioneered by a team of Expert surgeons at Carl Zeiss Meditec.

By using only one machine: VisuMax will make operating times faster and patients feel more comfortable.

ReLEx SMILE Procedure

1. Visumax Femtosecond Laser makes thin corneal tissue shaped like a lens (lenticule) at the base of the inner layer of the cornea and then formed a 2- 4mm corneal incision.
2. Furthermore, the lenticule is removed through the corneal incision, so that the structure of the cornea is maintained and stable due to the absence of flap making. The small incision in the cornea will heal naturally. Intake of the lenticule changes the way light enters the eye, so that the eye can see clearly without the aid of glasses or contact lenses.

Benefits of ReLEx SMILE

  • There are no complications related to flaps; such as a flap shifted or wrinkled due to the absence of flap making in this operation process.
  • Do not use a scalpel at all and only use Visumax Femtosecond Laser so that the healing process and phase take place faster.
  • The procedure is minimally invasive because this method only has a 4mm incision.
  • It only takes a few minutes in the operation process.
  • Due to the absence of openings (flaps), the patient feels more comfortable and does not experience pain.
  • Complaints of dry eyes after surgery are greatly reduced because there is no action on the structure of the upper cornea.
  • ReLEx® SMILE reduce optical abrasion that occurs because there is no flap.
  • Can eliminate dependence on glasses or contact lenses.

Compared to ReLEx SMILE , this method is a technology The latest LASIK which is only 4mm incision in process (smaller than other LASIK methods) using a laser (not using a scalpel), and using only one tool, the sophisticated Visumax Femtosecond Laser, thus making the operation process a faster. In addition, in the absence of flap opening, the patient will feel more comfortable and maintain the corneal structure of the eye.

[vc_row content_placement=”middle” el_class=”flex_column_table”][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”How long does LASIK take?” font_container=”tag:h1|font_size:36px|text_align:left|color:%230e7759″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_separator align=”align_left”][vc_column_text]It’s a legitimate question, and one that pops up in a lot of people’s minds, when they’re getting LASIK. There’s a few steps to it, from preparation, to the procedure itself, to post-op. Here’s a handy reference guide to what’s on the go when you decide to get LASIK:[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”5899″ img_size=”large” style=”vc_box_shadow_border”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column el_class=”mobile-image”][vc_custom_heading text=”Initial Screening Before LASIK: How Long is LASIK Surgery” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:36px|text_align:left|color:%230e7759″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_separator align=”align_left”][vc_single_image image=”6542″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow_border” el_class=”hideon-Desktop”][vc_single_image image=”6530″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow_border” el_class=”hideon-Desktop”][vc_column_text]At this stage, a specialist will conduct a Screening to ascertain whether or not you are a suitable candidate for LASIK. There are a few things to heed before the Screening, such as:

  1. Cease wearing contacts
If you wear contacts, whether hard or soft, you must cease using them at least two weeks prior to your Screening. This is because contacts cause irregular corneal shapes, and this fact can affect the accuracy and safety of the procedure.
  2. Be upfront about your medical history
You must inform your doctor if you:

    • have adverse medical history relating to diseases of the eye
    • are taking any medication
    • have adverse medical history relating to allergies of medication
  3. Follow your doctor’s instructions
    • They will discuss if you are a suitable candidate
    • They will outline the potential risks, benefits and alternatives relating to the specific condition of your eyes
    • They will discuss with you what your hopes are for the procedure’s outcome.

  1. Transport Arrangements
You need to arrange for transportation to and fro Ciputra SMG Eye Clinic, it is not recommended to ride a motorcycle, take public transportation that is open or drive yourself after surgery.

On the day of the operation, prior to the operation you must not use:

    • Cream

On the day of the procedure, you MUST refrain from using:

      • Creams
      • Lotions
      • Make-up
      • Perfume

As they increase your risk of infection during and after the operation. The doctor will advise you to clean your face, especially the area around your eyes, so that this will not occur.

During the Operation
The procedure will last from anywhere between 15 and 30 minutes for both eyes. You will be lying on an operating table, equipped with a comprehensive laser system. This procedure is generally painless, because of the topical anesthetic deployed prior to the operation. Nevertheless, there may be a slight discomfort on the eyes.

During the procedure, you are to stay still and face the laser beam directly above you, so that it may maintain an unbroken connection with your eyes.

Your doctor will prepare everything before the operation begins. A suction ring will be attached to your eyes, and your vision may black out for less than 25 seconds. Whilst the procedure is on the go with one eye, you will be able to see out the other eye.

Focus on the blinking light within the eye. You will smell some burning during the laser procedure. When the procedure is concluded, you are advised to rest in the recuperation room for about 10 to 15 minutes. After you are completely healed, the doctor will examine your eyes with a slit lamp before you will be authorized to return home.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column el_class=”mobile-image”][vc_custom_heading text=”Several Months After the Surgery: How Long is LASIK Surgery” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:36px|text_align:left|color:%230e7759″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_separator align=”align_left”][vc_column_text]

      3. Control Sessions
You must attend a control session with a specialist one day after the procedure to ascertain the condition of your eyes. We recommend you use sunglasses for your own protection, if you are sensitive to the sun.
      4. Eyeshield
You will be issued a transparent eyeshield. We do not recommend driving after the procedure.
      5. Recovery of the Eye
You will be able to see clearly without the help of glasses/contacts the day after the procedure after waking up. Your vision will gradually improve over the following couple of days.
      6. Other Remarks
You may travel by plane 3 to 5 days after the procedure. We recommend staying away from dusty/dirty places for a week.
      7. Prohibitions
Do not rub your eyes for the first two weeks after the procedure. Do not engage in heavy/contact sports e.g. boxing, soccer, karate, swimming, et cetera for one month after the procedure.

A Few Months After The Operation

    1. Sharpness of Vision
The sharpness of your vision will vary. This is normal and part of the healing process. It will begin to stabilize after a few months. This varies with each individual, and depends on the condition of their eyes. The rule of thumb is the worse the refractive condition, the longer it will take to recover.
    2. Dryness of the Eye
You will feel dryness in your eye for a few months after the procedure. You are advised to use eye drops to reduce discomfort.
    3. Sensitivity to Light
You may experience sensitivity to light at night, in such forms as halos or starbursts. This will last from 6 to 12 months after the procedure.

That’s what’s going to be on the go before, during, and after the procedure. We trust that this has been an informative article, and hope to see you at Ciputra SMG Eye Clinic for your consultation.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”CURRENT SCHEDULE” color=”success” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fciputrasmgeyeclinic.com%2Fen%2Fkontak%2F|”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Source:

Dry Eyes After LASIK? Is This Normal?

Mata Kering
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Dry Eyes After LASIK? Is This Normal?” font_container=”tag:h1|font_size:36px|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_separator][vc_column_text]After the LASIK procedure has concluded, you will immediately sense that your vision has become better. But this may also be accompanied by a different sensation: your eyes may feel dry and itchy. This is a common post-op after-effect. About 95 percent of patients report dryness of the eye after the procedure.

Things that trigger dry eyes after LASIK surgery

The things that can trigger dry eyes after LASIK if you have diabetes, have nearsightedness or have a vision that requires a high level of correction. In most patients who have had LASIK surgery, symptoms of dry eye are most visible in the early months after surgery. Most said that conditions gradually get better in a period of six to twelve months.

Screening of eye conditions for LASIK patients

The quality and quantity of tears produced are factors that affect the dryness of the eyes and can affect the healing process after surgery. Therefore, before doing LASIK , the patient will undergo a series of screenings to determine the quality and quantity of tears. The checks carried out are:

– Schirmer Test: thin pieces of paper placed under the lower eyelid to measure tear production.

– Tear Breakup Time: placing a small amount of dye on the surface of the eye to monitor how tears are distributed and when they “break up” on the surface of the eye.

What causes it?

The eyes will feel dry after LASIK surgery due to the cutting of the corneal nerve which functions as a stimulus for tear production. This is very reasonable and temporary for all patients who have performed LASIK surgery. To overcome this, eye drops are given to lubricate the eyes.

ReLEx® SMILE
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”ReLEx® SMILE Technology, The Latest LASIK Technology” font_container=”tag:h1|font_size:36px|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_separator][vc_column_text]Jakarta, 18 September 2015, Ciputra SMG Eye Clinic has introduced ReLEx SMILE, the latest in LASIK technology! ReLEx SMILE (Refractive Lenticule Extraction, Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) is the third generation of LASIK, that doesn’t involve blades or flaps in the correction of refractive conditions of the eye (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism)

Advantages of ReLEx® SMILE

Eye specialist Ciputra SMG Eye Clinic, dr. Utami Noor Sya’baniyah SpM explained that the procedure from ReLEx® SMILE uses only one Femtosecond laser machine with the most modern technology today to correct the shape of the eye cornea with very small incisions so that the recovery time needed after the action becomes faster and minimal side effects such as pain, glare also dry eyes. “In contrast to Lasik which makes incisions in the cornea up to 20 mm, ReLEx® SMILE only makes small incisions 2-4 mm on the surface of the cornea. The time needed for this process is also faster, only about 10 minutes, “said Dr. Utami

Requirements of ReLEx® SMILE Candidates

Not everyone with myopia and astigmatism can undergo the ReLEx® SMILE. Dr. Utami explained that there are several requirements to carry out this vision correction procedure, such as having to be 18 years old or older, not having significant changes in prescription glasses during the past year, myopia up to -10 or astigmatism up to -5. “Then, not being pregnant, not has a significant eye medical history, no family history of eye disease and extreme sports lovers, “he continued.

ReLEx® SMILE Cost
Speaking of the costs involved, Ciputra Healthcare’s director, Veimeirawaty Kusnadi said, for the Ciputra SMG Eye Clinic promo period, the ReLEx® SMILE rate was Rp. 30 million for a pair of eyes. However, later to undergo LASIK with the most recent technology, patients must pay in the range of Rp. 35 million to Rp. 40 million for a pair of eyes.
